From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Patrick Tambay (born 25 June 1949 in Paris) was a French Formula One driver.
Initially, he raced with McLaren between 1978 and 1979, followed by Ligier. In 1982 he was offered a place with Ferrari Formula One Racing Team - he won the German Grand Prix that year. He won his second and last Grand Prix in 1983 at Imola. He was dropped by the team in 1984 in favour of Italian Michele Alboreto - and joined Renault and Haas Beatrice Lola before retiring in 1986.
Since retiring from Fourmula 1, Patrick took up endurance racing, ice racing, jet-ski racing and finally desert racing, before finally retiring for good. In 1994 he became actively involved with the Larousse team. Now he is a commentator for French TV.
