Helmut Koinigg (November 3, 1948 - October 6, 1974) was a driver who died in a crash in the U.S. Grand Prix at Watkins Glen. While Koinigg crashed at relatively low-speed, and would normally have expected to walk away from the accident unscathed, the poorly-mounted armco barrier collapsed, killing the unfortunate driver instantly.
