Cliff Allison, (8 February 1932 in Brough, Westmoreland, Great Britain – 7 April 2005 in Brough, (now) Cumbria), was a Formula One driver who participated during seasons 1958 to 1961 in the Lotus, Scuderia Centro Sud, Ferrari and BRP teams. He suffered a major crash while practicing for the 1960 Monaco GP and it took him almost the rest of the year to recover from the injuries. The following year he suffered another crash at the wheel of his Lotus 18 and broke both his legs, marking the end of his career in motorsport. He kept in touch with the sport through reunions & was always a popular visitor to the paddock.
Allison owned and managed Allison's Garage in Brough. The business had been started by his father and he returned to it after his racing career ended. Allison's also provided the village bus service, which Cliff Allison would drive.
