Craig Short (born June 25, 1968 in Bridlington, England) is an English football player who usually plays as a central-defender. He currently plays for Sheffield United F.C.
Along with his brother Chris, he started his professional career at Pickering Town F.C. in the 1986/87 season. In October the following year they both moved to Scarborough F.C. together, and in June 1989, Notts County F.C., together. However, as his brother was dogged by injury, Craig managed to ascend to greater things. He completed more than one hundred games for both Derby County F.C. and Everton F.C., leaving the latter in 1999, before joining Blackburn Rovers F.C. for 1.7 million pounds. He sat on the bench during the most high-profile match of his career thus far, the 2002 Worthington Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur F.C., which Blackburn won 2-1.
He missed out on three months of play in both of the following seasons, but did enough for the team to ensure his signing of a new contract beyond the 2004/05 season. In summer 2005 he was allowed to move on to Sheffield United.
