From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Mark Hateley (born November 7, 1961) was a English football (soccer) player who played as a centre-forward. He was capped 32 times for the English national team.
Hateley is perhaps best remembered for his time at Rangers which saw him involved in a controversial on-pitch incident involving goalkeeper Michael Watt during a title decider with Aberdeen in 1991.
He also played for the club sides Ross County, Hull City, QPR, AS Monaco, A.C. Milan, Portsmouth and Coventry.
Upon finishing his top flight career Hateley had an unrewarding stab at management at Hull City and has since forged a successful career in the media, commentating on Scottish football and writing columns in the various Scottish newspapers.
Nickname: Affectionately known in Scottish football as Hippy Hackin' Hately due to his awful hairstyle and gung-ho attitude to the laws of the game.
His father, Tony Hately, was also an England striker.
