Alex Bruce (born September 28, 1984 in Manchester) is an English footballer who currently plays for Tranmere Rovers, on loan from Birmingham City. He is the son of former Manchester United player Steve Bruce, manager of Birmingham since December 2001, and plays as a central defender.
Having began his career at Blackburn Rovers, he was loaned out to Oldham Athletic and was part of the team that played in the victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup on January 8, 2005. He was then loaned out to Sheffield Wednesday, for whom he was instrumental in their rise to the play-offs. Having impressed Tranmere Rovers boss Brian Little on his trip to Oldham, Little swiped for a loan deal which will encompass the first half of the 2005-06 season.
