Steve Carell

Steve Carell (born August 16, 1963 in Concord, Massachusetts) is an American actor.

He performed with the Chicago troupe of The Second City in 1991.

He was a correspondent on The Daily Show for several years, and also appeared in recurring sketches like "Even Stephven" (with Stephen Colbert) and "Produce Pete." In 2005 Carell played the lead role in NBC's remake of the British sitcom The Office. He plays the lead role in the 2005 film The 40-Year-Old Virgin, which he developed and co-wrote.

Steve Carell as "Andy Stitzer" in a movie poster for The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

Other screen credits include a role in the short-lived Julia Louis-Dreyfus sitcom Watching Ellie (2002–2003), along with parts in the films Bruce Almighty as an arrogant rival to Jim Carrey who gets the ultimate comeuppance at a news desk, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy playing yet again another news personality only a dimwitted follower of Burgundy's crew, and Woody Allen's Melinda and Melinda. He also was in The Dana Carvey Show (1996). Carell has also done some voice acting, including several voices in "The Ambiguously Gay Duo" for Saturday Night Live. He is also scheduled to play Maxwell Smart in a movie remake of Get Smart.

Carell returned to The Daily Show on March 23, 2005 for a piece on the second anniversary of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. While there he also recorded two guest appearances as Produce Pete which aired on April 4, 2005 and May 3, 2005 (and was credited as a contributor until that time). He has since been on the show as the guest on August 17, 2005, and declared on that day's program (much to Jon Stewart's tearful dismay) that he is officially no longer with the show, ending a bit of speculation as to if he would one day return or not.

He is married to Nancy Walls, another former Daily Show correspondent.
