From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Frederic Raphael was born in 1931. He is a noted screenwriter, as well as a prolific novelist and journalist. He won an Oscar for the screenplay for the 1966 movie, Darling, starring Julie Christie, Dirk Bogarde and Laurence Harvey. His articles and book reviews appear in a number of newspapers and magazines, including the Los Angeles Times. He has published more than twenty novels, as well as several history books, collections of essays and translations.
In 1999, Raphael published Eyes Wide Open, a memoir of his collaboration with legendary director Stanley Kubrick on the screenplay of "Eyes Wide Shut", Kubrick's final movie. That year, Penguin Books also published Raphael's translation of Arthur Schnitzler's "Dream Story", which was the basis for "Eyes Wide Shut."
