From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Seals and Crofts are Jim Seals (October 17, 1941) and Dash Crofts (August 14, 1940), a popular soft rock duo in the early 1970s, best-known for their hit "Summer Breeze". Both born in Texas, they first met in a band called Dean Beard and the Crew Cuts, where Seals played guitar and Crofts played drums. With Beard, they moved to Los Angeles to join The Champs.
In 1965, Crofts returned to Texas. When Seals jointed The Dawnbreakers, Crofts returned to California to join him. Crofts married. In 1969 both Seals and Crofts converted to the Baha'i faith.
After the Dawnbreakers, the two played as a duo, with Seals on guitar, sax and violin, and Crofts on guitar and mandolin. Their second album, "Down Home", with Talent Associates, charted and they moved to Warner Brothers Records.
After a long and successful run of recording in the seventies, the two lost their contract and set aside music for a while. They held a short reunion tour in 1991-2. Crofts moved around, Mexico, Australia and then Nashville, playing country and making occasional hit singles. Seals moved to Costa Rica.
In 2003, the pair united and recorded the first new material together in more than twenty years. They toured in 2004-5.
