Thomas Lennon (9 August 1970) is an American actor, comedian, and writer. He is married to actress Jenny Robertson.

Lennon is a native of Oak Park, Illinois and a 1988 graduate of Oak Park River Forest High School. After graduation, Lennon went to NYU with the intention of becoming a dramatic actor. He soon found that he preferred comedy. He joined a sketch comedy group called The New Group. The core members were the basis of the future comedy group The State. The group changed their name after graduation while working on a development deal for MTV. The 11 member group has always insisted that the name had no symbolic meaning.

MTV picked up The State as a series in 1993. Initially, the show was only signed for 6 episodes. While the reviews were negative the ratings were extremely high. MTV pursued the show as a series. In 1995, CBS was looking for a show to compete with NBC's Saturday Night Live. The State decided to make the jump to network television. In July 1995, Variety magazine made the announcement that The State was making the jump to CBS.

Thomas Lennon is best known for his television acting. He has starred in Reno 911! (2003), Viva Variety (1996), and The State (1993). In Reno 911!, Lennon plays Lieutenant Jim Dangle, a gay sheriff's deputy. This portrayal may be part of the reason why the show was nominated as "Outstanding Comedy Series" at the 2004 GLAAD Media Awards.

He is not related to Beatles member John Lennon.

Lennon has written for Reno 911!, Viva Variety, and The State. He is also an accomplished screenwriter and has contributed to the following films:

  • Taxi (2004) - Screenplay.
  • Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005) - Screenplay, story.
  • The Pacifier (2005) - Writing.
