From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Deborah Norville (born August 8, 1958 in Dalton, Georgia) is an American television personality. Since 1995, she has been host of the American television program Inside Edition.
She previously was a reporter and anchor for MSNBC and co-host of NBC's daily morning The Today Show, replacing Jane Pauley in a highly-publicized anchor switch in 1989. Because Norville was significantly younger than Pauley, many accused the network of ageism.
On February 2, 2005, MSNBC announced that Norville would be replaced as prime time host on the network by Tucker Carlson, who previously co-hosted CNN's Crossfire.
In 1976, she was named Georgia's Junior Miss, a beauty pageant that also serves as a scholarship program for college-bound high school girls. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia with a degree in journalism.
She has twice been awarded an Emmy Award for her television work.
Her tumultous experiences on The Today Show inspired her to write a book entitled Back on Track: How to Straighten Out Your Life When it Throws You a Curve (Simon & Schuster, 1997). She has also written two children's books, I Don't Want to Sleep Tonight (Golden Books, 1999) and I Can Fly (Golden Books, 2001).
She is married to Karl Wellner and has three children.
