Dr. John Alexander Dowie (1848–1907) was a significant Scottish clergyman in the U.S..
Dowie was born in Edinburgh and moved to Australia as a boy but returned to Edinburgh to study theology. He was an evangelist and faith healer. 1890 he moved to United States and founded, in 1896, The Christian Catholic Apostolic Church in Zion, Illinois, with himself as First Apostle. Dowie was a very determined man. He was, though.
