From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Anthony Drew Dorsett (born April 7, 1954 in the Pittsburgh suburb of Rochester, Pennsylvania) was an American football running back who was a star in college football and the NFL.
Dorsett was a star running back at University of Pittsburgh and helped to lead them to a national title in 1976, also picking up the Heisman Trophy, the Maxwell Award and the Walter Camp Award while setting NCAA college records. In 1977, he was drafted by the NFL's Dallas Cowboys and played with them through 1987. He is the only man to win a College Football Championship one year and then the Super Bowl the next. Dorsett played in two Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys. He ended his career with the Denver Broncos in 1988.
In his NFL career, he rushed for 12,739 yards and 77 touchdowns and caught 398 passes for 3,554 yards and 13 touchdowns. In 1983 in a game against Minnesota, Dorsett ran for a 99 yard touchdown. It is the longest run by a player from the line of scrimmage ever in NFL history.
He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1994 and was enshrined in the Texas Stadium Ring of Honor the same year.
