Helmut Griem (born April 6, 1932 in Hamburg; died November 19, 2004 in München) was a German actor.

Griem was active on all major German-speaking stages. He acted at the following theatres: the Thalia-Theater in Hamburg, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, the Burgtheater in Wien, the Staatliches Schauspielbühnen in Berlin, in the Münchner Kammerspiele in Munich, and finally in the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, also in München.

Among the scores of film and tv shows he acted in as well, the Oscar-winning film Cabaret (directed by Bob Fosse -- 1972) stands out. From the pages of Liza Minnelli and Michael York he played the rich baron Maximilian by Heune. Despite his great success in film, the theatre remained the heart of Helmut Griem's career.

Helmut Griem was also a stage manager, for instance for Eines langen Tages Reise in die Nacht by Eugene O'Neill. Griem had planned for his next work to be the Botho-Strauß play Die eine and die andere. However, he was unable to begin it.
