Penelope Keith, OBE, (born April 2, 1940) is a British actress, best known for her appearances in the BBC television sitcoms To the Manor Born and The Good Life. Her characters are usually likeable but pompous and slightly ridiculous upper-class ladies, as in the preceding examples.
In 2000 she was appointed High Sheriff of Godalming, near Surrey, to serve beginning 2002.
She was born Penelope Hatfield in Sutton, Surrey evidently in 1940, although she has always been shy about her age, and some sources have her born as early as 1930. She is married to Rodney Timson, and has two adopted sons.
