From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Robbie Earle, MBE, is currently working as a commentator and pundit for ITV. He was the scorer of Jamaica's first ever World Cup goal in their debut World Cup campaign. He began his career in English football for Port Vale in 1982. In 1991 he then moved on to Wimbledon. It was here that he would gain most recognition as a player at club level. In an incredible career in club football Robbie Earle - an attacking midfielder - played approximately 600 games, scoring around 150 goals. He was forced to retire at the age of 35 due to injury. He was injured playing for the Wimbledon reserve side when they played Watford. He was kicked in the stomach hard enough to rupture his pancreas. Even after his career finished he took up a coaching role for Wimbledon and was an ambassador for the club. He also found an interest in sports journalism in which he has been thoroughly successful for Radio Stations such as Capital Radio and BBC Radio 5. He has also been successful for television broadcasters such as BBC TV, ITV, Sky Sports and OnDigital. He was awarded an MBE in 1999 for his services to football. He is also an Honorary Patron for the campaign against Racism, 'Show Racism the Red Card'.
