From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Onat Kutlar (Alanya, 1936-1995) is a Turkish writer and poet, founder of Turkish Cinemateque and one of the founders of the Istanbul Film Festival.
He grew up in Gaziantep, Turkey. He studied law at Istanbul University and philosophy in Paris. Ishak (1959), comprised of nine short stories most of which are written from the point of view of a child and are often surrealistic and mystical, and according to literary critic Fethi Naci a very early example of magical surrealism, was the recipient of the 1959 Turkish Language Association Short Story Award. Has died of injuries sustained in a terrorist attack in Istanbul (January 11, 1995).
