From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia
Phillip "Phil" LaMarr (born January 24, 1967 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actor and voice actor. He is a graduate of Harvard High School in North Hollywood and Yale University, technically making him alumni of both Harvard and Yale.
LaMarr has had guest appearances in a number of TV shows and movies. He is perhaps best known for being a regular cast member through six seasons of Mad TV and for his small role in Pulp Fiction as Marvin, the man whom John Travolta's character accidentally shoots in the face. In one Mad TV skit parodying Pulp Fiction, LaMarr reprised his role as Marvin. He was also a contestant on the British Whose Line Is It Anyway? season that was filmed in Hollywood.
LaMarr is also a prominent voice actor in video games and animated series such as Justice League and Justice League Unlimited (as Green Lantern John Stewart), The Life and Times of Juniper Lee (as Marcus), Futurama (as Hermes Conrad), Samurai Jack (as the title character), The Weekenders (as Carver), Invader Zim (as Poop Dogg, The Letter "M"), Family Guy, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends (as the basketball-obsessed imaginary friend named Wilt), and Static Shock (as Static). He has also voiced for the video games Jak II and Jak 3 of the Jak and Daxter series, Metal Gear Solid 2 (as Vamp), Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (as Gadon Thek), and Mercenaries. In addition, he was on an episode of Cold Case about a murdered New Haven D.A. (as Kiki).
Trivia
- LaMarr was an extra in Spider-Man 2. This is unusual as extras often have little to no acting experience, and this isn't the case for LaMarr.
- Static Shock and Justice League have had a few crossovers where the characters Green Lantern and Static appear. As the voice of both superheroes, LaMarr literally talks to himself in some scenes.
