[Andreas] William Heinesen (Tórshavn, 15 January 1900 - 12 March 1991) was a Faroese writer, poet, composer and painter.
As he was born and raised before faroese language was taught in the schools, he wrote mainly in Danish, and translated several books into his native Faroese.
He received The Nordic Council's Literature Prize in 1964 for his novel Det gode håb (The Good Hope).
