From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Peter Barkworth was born in Margate, Kent on 14 January 1929 but grew up in the North of England. He joined the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art on leaving school and became an actor, though he is now retired.
A string of television and film appearances followed spanning four decades. He is perhaps best remembered for the TV series Telford's Change (1979). This series followed the life of a senior banking executive as he relocated to Dover to start his life over again, leaving his wife in London. He co-starred with Hannah Gordon and Keith Barron.
Peter Barkworth was also a regular character in the 1965 ground-breaking boardroom drama The Power Game. He has also appeared in various episodes of the cult series The Avengers and had a role in Doctor Who story as The Ice Warriors as Leader Clent.
His film roles include parts in International Velvet, Patton, Where Eagles Dare, and his last role was in the Stephen Fry film of the life of Oscar Wilde in 1997.
In later years Barkworth undertook teaching at RADA and served as a member of the Council at RADA for 16 years. His book About Acting - formerly titled The Complete About Acting - is often recommended reading for students and professional actors alike. He has also written For All Occasions: A Selection of Poems, Prose and Party Pieces.
