David Francis Cargo (born January 13, 1929) is a Republican politician from the state of New Mexico. He was governor of New Mexico from 1967 until 1971. He also took part in the Republican gubernatorial primary of 1994, taking second place. He lost to Gary E. Johnson and received more votes than two other candidates. Prior to his election as Governor, he served in the New Mexico House of Representatives from 1962 to 1967.
