From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Caitlin 'Cait' O'Riordan (born 4 January 1965) was the bass player for Irish punk/folk band, The Pogues from 1983-1986. She appeared on the group's first two albums Red Roses for Me and Rum, Sodomy And The Lash (singing on "I'm A Man You Don't Meet Every Day"), as well as the soundtrack to Alex Cox's film, Sid And Nancy.
The Pogues' most commercially-successful song, "Fairytale Of New York" was originally envisioned as a duet between Cait and Shane MacGowan - though it was eventually recorded some time later with Kirsty MacColl on vocals.
She left the band in 1986 to marry singer Elvis Costello, though the couple split in 2002.
O'Riordan is currently bassist for ex-Pogue Phil Chevron's band The Radiators From Space. She also toured with the Pogues in 2004 for the first time in 18 years.
