John Keene was a member of the band Thunderclap Newman. Before joining, he was the chauffer of the Who guitarist Pete Townshend. He is famous among fans of The Who for writing "Armenia City in the Sky" for the group, the lead track on The Who Sell Out. This was the only song The Who ever performed that was specifically written for the group by a non-member.
