Hal Sparks (born September 25, 1969 in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an actor and comedian best known for his role of Michael Novotny on the American television series Queer as Folk. He was a host of Emmy award winning talk show on E!, Talk Soup and G4's Video Game Vixens.
He is also the lead singer and guitarist for a metal band, the ZERO 1. Members included Robert Hall (Sparks' friend) on bass and Miles Loretta (Sparks' cousin) on drum.
Sparks was named the "Funniest Teenager in Chicago" in 1987. He has been seen on several shows, such as VH1's I Love the 70s, I Love the 80s, I Love the 80s Strikes Back, I Love the 90s, and I Love the 90s: Part Deux. He had a brief role in Spider Man 2 as a passenger in an elevator.
Sparks has said that he is straight.
