From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Alan Thomas Hrabosky (born July 21, 1949 in Oakland, California) was a Major League Baseball player from 1970-1982 for the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Royals, and Atlanta Braves.
Known as "The Mad Hungarian", Hrabosky was a southpaw relief pitcher who threw hard and specialized in the closer role. He would stomp on the mound before pitching, much to the delight of the hometown crowd, which might explain his nickname. He retired after the 1982 season with 64 wins, 35 losses, an Earned Run Average of 3.10 and 97 saves. Hrabosky currently serves as a color commentator on Cardinals television broadcasts.
