From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Reed Diamond (born July 20, 1967 in New York City) is an American actor.
Born and raised in New York City, Diamond is the son of Allison, an astrologer, and Bob Diamond, a director of shows such as "The Joe Franklin Show". Reed attended the University of North Carolina in the 1980s, and spent time training as a police officer before studying acting at the Julliard School.
Diamond's early roles included guest starring on Law & Order and Class of '96, and movies such as Memphis Belle (1990) and Clear and Present Danger (1994).
His first big break came in 1995 when he joined the cast of Homicide: Life on the Street as Detective Mike Kellerman. That same year, Diamond married Frederika Kesten. They divorced in 1997, after which time Diamond began dating his Homicide co-star Michelle Forbes. Diamond and Forbes, along with several other cast members such as Andre Braugher, were part of a major cast shake-up in 1998 which saw their characters written out of the series. The show's subsequent seventh season became its last, largely due to fans tuning out after losing their favorite characters. Diamond and the others would return, however, in 2000 for a TV movie to wrap up the series.
Recent roles include the re-make of High Noon (2000), "Three Days" (2001), - which he starred in alongside then-girlfriend Kristin Davis - S.W.A.T. (2003) and Spider-Man 2 (2004).
As well as playing the recurring role as Stuart Collins on Judging Amy from 1999 to 2003, Diamond has guest starred on Crossing Jordan, The West Wing, and Medium. He was also promoted as one of the main cast of The Shield, so as to surprise the viewer when he was murdered at the end of the first episode in 2002.
Since 2004, Diamond has been married to actress Marnie McPhail.
