From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Bob Meusel (July 19, 1896 - November 28, 1977) was a member of the fabled Murderer’s Row of the New York Yankees (generally batting fifth behind Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig), left fielder Bob Meusel hit .334 with 102 runs batted in over the 1927 season (his best). Meusel’s eleven year career began on April 14, 1920 with the New York Yankees with whom he remained for all but his last season with the Cincinnati Reds. Nicknamed “Long Bob†for his 6 foot 3 inch frame, Meusel hit for a .309 career batting average while slugging 368 doubles, 94 triples, 156 home runs, and driving in 1,067 runs. Meusel appeared in Sam Wood's 1942 film, Pride of the Yankees, playing a cameo of himself.
