From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia John Blackman is an Australian radio and television presenter. He is notable for his long running voice-over role as the voice behind Australia's longest running variety show, 1971-1999, on the Nine Network's Hey Hey It's Saturday. Blackman created characters such as Dickie Knee and several other oddball characters on the show, including the angel (a small angelic creature which had an unusually coarse nature) and Mrs Macgillacuddy (a hideous old hag).
Blackman was the Breakfast Show presenter on Melbourne radio station 3AK from 1997 to 2000. He has authored five books including aussie Slang and aussie Gags.
Blackman is also known for his charity work with disabled and disadvantaged people, and cares for a disabled daughter.
