From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Marco Campos was a Brazilian racing driver born on 1976, 24 February, in Curitiba, Brazil, who died in a accident in a International Formula 3000 race in the Magnycours circuit in 1995.
Campos was a successful kart driver, winning the Panamerican championiship in 1992 and 1993. In 1993 he also won the South American kart championiship. Then in 1994 he went to drive in the European Formula Opel championiship, winning the title in his first year for the Draco Junior Team.
Then Draco changed to the International Formula 3000 championiship in 1995, using a Lola-Cosworth. But the life become difficult and the best result was a fourth place in Enna-Pergusa, giving to him the 13° place in the final season result.
But his life arrived to the end in Magnycours when, on the last lap, he crashed into the Thomas Biagi's car, rolling and then crashing in the wall. The head of the driver smashed in the wall which resulted in skull fractures, cerebral trauma and deep coma. Campos died in the following day at the Lariboisiére Hospital.
His brother, Julio, actually drive in kart and formula championiships, winning the Skip Barber championiship in 2001.
