Kurtwood Larson Smith (born July 3, 1943) is an American television and film actor. He was born in New Lisbon, Wisconsin, but was raised in California.
Smith studied theater at the College of San Mateo and San Jose State University and earned a drama fellowship from Stanford University's Master of Fine arts program. In the 1970s he began working regularly with the California Actors Theater in Los Gatos, California. He moved to Los Angeles to pursue a television and film career. In 1964 he married Cecilia Souza, from whom he had two children. He divorced in 1974. Since 1988, he has been married to actress Joan Pirkle.
He is probably best known as the character of Red Forman on That '70s Show, which he has played since 1998.
Other than playing the President of the Federation in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, he appeared in the Star Trek Deep Space Nine episode "Things Past" as the Cardassian named Thrax and in Star Trek Voyager, he played the Krenim named Annorax in the 2 part episode "The Year of Hell". His most famous role, however, must be as Clarence Boddicker, the villain of the first Robocop movie. He has also voice acted in computer games, such as Fallout Tactics - Brotherhood of Steel.
