Carmelita Rosanna Ford (born September 19, 1958) is a heavy metal singer and guitarist whose peak popularity was during the 1980s.
Ford was born in London but is of Italian heritage. She moved with her family to the United States while still very young. She joined The Runaways at the age of 16, and after the group folded in 1979 began a solo career, but her first two albums were limited in their success.
In 1985, Ford was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Performance on Gotta Let Go with Wendy O. Williams and Pia Zadora. In the 1988, with Sharon Osbourne as her manager, Ford had her biggest hit, Close My Eyes Forever (a duet with Sharon's husband, Ozzy Osbourne).
Lita Ford was married to Chris Holmes (from W.A.S.P.) from 1986 to 1992. She has been romantically involved with Nikki Sixx and Tony Iommi. Currently, she is married to Jim Gillette, of the band Nitro.
