From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Margaret Lindsay (September 19, 1910 - May 9, 1981) was a film actress with over 80 film credits. She was born in Dubuque, Iowa as Margaret Keir. She appeared in a number of successful films of the 1930s and 1940s including Jezebel (1938) and Scarlet Street (1945). Her most famous role may have been in the film House of Seven Gables in 1940, with George Sanders and Vincent Price. Lindsay was often mistaken as a British woman due to her accent, which she picked up after noticing that British actresses sometimes received bigger roles in films. She learned it while traveling abroad after studying at American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York.
During the mid 1930s, Lindsay was rumoured to be having an affair with Janet Gaynor. They were reported to have been driving around the country to escape attention.
