Jai Rodriguez, culture vulture on Queer Eye For The Straight Guy

Jai Rodriguez is the culture expert on the American television program Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. He was born on June 22, 1979 in Brentwood, New York of Puerto Rican and Italian descent.

In his "day job," Jai is a stage actor, known for his roles in the stage musicals Rent and Zanna, Don't!. He also has released a single, Love Is Good, which was released on indie record label Arrive At Eleven Productions, and is currently working on an album. In August 2005 Rodriguez made a two-day guest appearances on ABC daytime drama One Life to Live.

In 2005 Jai was the subject of tabloid gossip surrounding his supposed 'bisexuality' after a female fan sold a story to tabloid paper the New York Daily News claming to have been sexually intimate with him at a party. Jai's Queer Eye co-star Ted Allen talked in some depth about the story while hosting a show on gay radio station OutQ, explaining that the woman in question was a homophobic near-stalker who had told Jai she had made it her mission to "cure him" of being gay. Initially Jai reacted angrily at the rumor, calling it "bullshit" and making out with strange men while on stage at a gay pride event. The Daily News later claimed that Jai approached one of their reporters after the story broke and admitted to being bisexual, but he reaffirmed his homosexuality in an interview with gay magazine HX, laughing off the rumors about him (he claimed the Daily News reporter had made up the 'bisexual' quote after seeing him dancing with an old female friend), and talking lovingly about his relationship with his boyfriend Mark.
