From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia

Alana de la Garza is an American actor. She was born on June 18, 1976 in Columbus, Ohio, but was raised in El Paso, Texas. Since an early age, she had dreamed of being an actor. A model at age 13, winner of the "Miss Photogenic" title in the Miss Teen El Paso beauty pageant, her looks could have been her life's defining characteristic. Instead, she became a special-needs teacher, and studied physical therapy and social work at the University of Texas. After college, she decided to pursue her lifelong dream, and became a professional actor. Landing some small roles while living in Orlando, Florida, she soon moved to New York City to shoot for the big time. Her first major role was as Rosa Santos on the television soap opera, All My Children. After guest-starring roles on the television series' JAG, Two and a Half Men, and Las Vegas, she landed a starring role as Maria in the television series The Mountain. While the series was cancelled after a very brief run, de la Garza received high marks for her acting. In 2005, she starred in the motion picture Mr. Fix-It co-starring David Boreanaz, and guest-starred as an evil Kryptonian woman in the fifth season premiere episode of Smallville, "Arrival."
