Melissa Mathison (born 3 June 1950) is an American screen scriptwriter.
She is most famous for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and for being the second wife of Harrison Ford.
In 2005, reports indicated that Mathison was working with Indian director Shekhar Kapur on the script for an as-yet untitled film concerning the life of the Buddha.
