Kevin Rose

Robert Kevin Rose (born February 21, 1977; better known as Kevin Rose) is best known as having been co-host of the G4 (formerly G4techTV) television program Attack of the Show! (formerly The Screen Savers) until his departure from the network on May 27, 2005. He was born in California and grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. He attended a vocational-technical school before attending UNLV. After school, he got a job with the Department of Energy, where he worked as a technology advisor and held a Level L security clearance. He later moved to San Francisco, California and worked for several dot-com startups through CMGI.

After the dot-com bubble burst, Rose was hired as a technical production assistant for The Screen Savers. He eventually began appearing on the show, most notably in "Dark Tip" segments, where he provided information on unscrupulous computing activities. He sometimes filled in for the regular show hosts, and eventually became a full-time host after Leo Laporte left TechTV.

On May 22, 2005, Rose announced on his blog that he had been released from his contract with G4. He left the network to create Revision3 Studios and focus full-time on thebroken, a videozine he had created with Dan Huard which features questionable activities, such as password cracking and social engineering, and Systm, a videozine which closely resembles older technology-oriented formats of The Screen Savers. May 27, 2005 marked his last day of work at G4 and final appearance on Attack of the Show!. He soon will be making his return to television with his recently announced bi-weekly appearences on Call for Help with Leo Laporte.

Rose was one of only six TechTV personalities, including Adam Sessler, Morgan Webb, Sarah Lane, Chi-Lan Lieu, and Brendan Moran, to survive the massive layoffs resulting from the May 2004 merger of G4 and TechTV.

On November 1, 2004, Rose formed Digg, a technology news website that combines social bookmarking, blogging, RSS, and non-hierarchical editorial control. Digg is now ranked among the top five-thousand websites worldwide (according to alexa.com). He can be heard on Diggnation, a podcast about Digg, with former The Screen Savers host Alex Albrecht.

Rose also appears on the weekly podcast This Week in Tech along with several other former cast members of The Screen Savers.
