Eddie Peabody (born February 19, 1902 in Reading, Massachusetts - dead November 7, 1970 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Covington, Kentucky.
Universally considered as the best plectrum banjo player of all times.
His career started during World War I (he fibbed about his age and he was enlisted in March 1917) playing violin, mandolin, guitar and banjo for his U.S. Navy buddies, becoming known as the "Happiness Boy".
He got into show business in 1921 after getting off the S-14 submarine.
His career last till the very end of his life.
He developed with the Vega Banjo Co. of Boston a new type of banjo, called Vegavox and, first with Fender Co. and then with Gretsch, a special type of electric guitar called Banjoline.
