Merl Saunders (sometimes spelled Merle), born February 14, 1934, is a multi-genre musician who plays piano and keyboards, favoring the Hammond B3 organ.
In the 1960s, Saunders began collaborating with Jerry Garcia, and the Grateful Dead. He has also worked with musicians Paul Pena, Bonnie Raitt, Miles Davis, and B.B. King.
He currently runs his own record label, Sumertone.
