Martin Tyler is a well renowned English football commentator. He is regarded by many people to be the best english speaking sporting commentator in the world. His voice is synonymous with English football and has been for over 25 years. Not only has he been calling the action for the English game, but also European competitions and World Cups. His knowledge, passion, enthusiasm and emotion for Football can be heard through his vibrant and colourful commentary which is expressed with great elegance and understanding.

Playing Career

Martin began his playing career with the English Isthmian League team Corinthian Casuals. It was there that he began aswell as finished his playing career as a centre forward.

Commentary Career

After graduating from University, Martin helped in the publishing of Marshall Cavendish's Book of Football. It was there that his media career began and this was a stepping stone for Martin's career in Football commentary. From here he began commentating with London Weekend Television as he began to grow in popularity commentating for such channels as Southern Television, Granada and ITV throughout the 1970's and 1980's. He then joined British_Satellite_Broadcasting's Sports Channel in 1990 and then moved on to Sky Sports' for its launch in 1991. Martin Tyler was voted as the FA Premier League Commentator of The Decade by fans and a specially assembled panel of Football experts. After learning of the honour Martin said "I'd like to thank everybody who voted for me and express my gratitude to all my colleagues at Sky Sports. This award is as much for them as myself and reflects our approach to football. My job has also been made easier by the thousands of individuals within the game who've answered my daily requests for information with the attention and care that make this job so enjoyable."
