Jon Halliday is a Russian historian who was a former Senior Visiting Research Fellow at King's College, University of London.
Halliday is the author of a biography on the film-maker Douglas Sirk and has written and edited seven other books. He and his wife, Jung Chang, live in Notting Hill, west London. Together they researched and wrote their book Mao: the Unknown Story.
