From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Bryan Keith Holland, (born December 29, 1965), better known as his stage name Dexter Holland is a singer and guitarist for the punk band, The Offspring.
- Valedictorian in high school
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at University of Southern California - In progress
- Possess a pilot's license, and made a solo trip around the world in 10 days.
- Immediately recognizable by his full head of spiky light-blond hair
After failing to get into a Social Distortion show in 1984, he decided to form a band with fellow friend and cross-country teammate Greg Kriesel called "Manic Subsidal".
This group eventually became The Offspring and got a contract from Nemesys records. Here, they recorded their first full length album entitled The Offspring in 1988 and issued in March 1989. This album would eventually be re-issued on November 21, 1995 by Dexter's own record label, Nitro Records.
In 1991, the band signed to with Epitaph Records (home of Bad Religion, L7 and NOFX and similar bands) to record Ignition and then released it in 1992.
His last Epitaph Records album with The Offspring was Smash (1994). Then later on, he signed with Columbia Records in and released Ixnay On The Hombre (1997), Americana (1998) and Conspiracy Of One (2000).
Their album, Splinter, was released on December 9, 2003. In March of 2003, Dexter jokingly announced that it would be called Chinese Democracy, to spite Axl Rose of Guns n' Roses, whose highly anticipated album of the same name was constantly "in limbo". Dexter said "AXL [ROSE] ripped-off my braids, so I ripped-off his album title."
Dexter is currently preparing for the July 19, 2005 release of the DVD video collection. The band will also be on the summer Warped Tour from June to September 2005.
