Michael Patterson and his wife Candace Reckinger were driving forces behind the early days of MTV. Winners of an MTV award for the animation in A-Ha's groundbreaking video for "Take On Me", they went on to animate and direct Paula Abdul's "Opposites Attract". Patterson himself voiced the famous MC Skat Kat character on the track, who even had a brief solo career.
The couple also contributed to Steve Baron's "Money For Nothing" by Dire Straits, and on their own directed videos for Sting, Ian Hunter, Kansas, Heart and Suzanne Vega, among others.
Nowadays, Patterson and Reckinger direct some of the more creative commercials seen on television.
