From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Raymond Acevedo (born December 21, 1971, is a Puerto Rican rock music singer.
Music career
Raymond Acevedo joined the well-known Puerto Rican boy band, Menudo, in 1985, replacing the popular Ray Reyes, who had left the group only two years into his four year contract. Acevedo joined Ricky Martin and Robby Rosa, among others, in the band.
Acevedo came into Menudo towards the end of what is generally considered the band's "golden era", when the group was undergoing a change that eventually resulted in Menudo's producing songs that were arguably edfier than their previous hits. Acevedo did participate in two of Menudo's pre-rock era albums, including Evolution.
In 1986, Acevedo sang lead on the Menudo hit "En San Juan me Enamore" ("I Fell in Love In San Juan").
Having become a teen idol in Puerto Rico and the rest of Latin America, and a favorite among Menudo fans, Acevedo's departure from the group was followed closely by Puerto Rican media. He left on August 2, 1988, a few months short of his seventeenth birthday. He announced on a local television show that he planned to move to the United States.
Acevedo led a much quieter life in the states. He lived for several years in New York City, but finally settled in Florida. He became a solo songwriter, and launched a solo career. He also worked in off-Broadway plays in New York City. He also polished his skills as a musician and co-produced his first solo CD. In 2001, Acevedo released his first CD as a solo artist, as well as his own website. Acevedo released the Spanish album "Amor Oculto" ("Hidden Love") in 2001, as well as the English album "Age of Anxiety" in 2005. He is currently touring in Brazil with other former members of Menudo in a Reunion tour. They are calling themselves Menudo La Reunion.
