From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Paz LenchantÃn (pronounced "pass len-cha-n-TIN") is an Argentinian rock musician. She was born on December 12, 1973 in Mar del Plata, Argentina and came to Los Angeles with her parents. Being that her parents were both professional concert pianists, she was inspired to play like them and began playing piano at age five. She then learned how to play violin at age eight and began guitar at age twelve. Jane's Addiction's bassist Eric Avery later influenced her to play bass. Since her parents both played classical music, this was the only music that she was allowed to listen to. This made her want to explore and experiment other forms of music. Although she was raised classically, she finally worked up the courage to tell her parents that she was taking a different path towards rock and her parents were supportive. Even though she wanted to pursue rock, she still practiced classical music and learned rock on her own by way of watching other artists.
Career History
While in a band called the Martini's, Billy Howerdel, Josh Freese, Troy Van Leeuwen, and Maynard James Keenan invited her to join their group, A Perfect Circle. She contributed to their first album, Mer de Noms by playing mostly strings, bass guitar, and back-up vocals. Later, she left the group to play for Billy Corgan's short-lived band, Zwan. However, she returned to play strings and piano on eMOTIVe, released November 2, 2004. She also contributed a re-mix track of the song "Hollow" to A Perfect Circle's CD/DVD release, aMOTION.
Lenchantin has released one solo album, a limited release entitled Yellow mY skYcaptain. It is no longer commercially available. She is reportedly working on a new solo album.
Paz Lenchantin is a transitional artist that has contributed to many different bands. She is one of three new members to the band RTX. She has also appeared on Queens of the Stone Age's album, Songs For The Deaf.
Along with her sister Ana Lenchantin, Paz has played with David Pajo in Papa M, as well as contributed to Melissa Auf der Maur's album Auf der Maur.
