From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Ross Shafer (born December 10, 1954 in Portland, Oregon) is currently a motivational speaker based in Grass Valley, California. Shafer began his career as a stand-up comedian in Seattle, Washington and in 1984 became host of KING-TV's program Almost Live!.
In 1985, Shafer and his show spearheaded an effort (began as a joke) to make "Louie, Louie" the official Washington state song. While the effort was ultimately unsuccessful, "Louie, Louie" was made Washington's official state rock song.
In 1988, Shafer left to replace Joan Rivers as the host of Fox's Late Show. The stint only lasted a few months.
In 1990, Shafer hosted a version of the game show The Match Game.
