Dylan McDermott (born Mark McDermott on October 26, 1961, in Waterbury, Connecticut) is an American actor of Irish and Italian descent, most famous for his role as lawyer and law firm head Bobby Donnell on the former TV legal drama, The Practice.

Dylan McDermott attended acting school at the Jesuit-run Fordham University in The Bronx and got his first break as an actor in the film In the Line of Fire. Through his connection with Clint Eastwood, McDermott was able to land his first major gig as protagonist lawyer "Bobby Donnell" on David E. Kelley's legal drama, The Practice.

McDermott is the son of Richard "Mac" McDermott, ex-husband of Eve Ensler, who authored The Vagina Monologues, and the late Diane McDermott, both of whom were teenagers when Dylan was born.

He married actress Shiva Rose in November, 1995. They have two daughters -- Colette Rose (born circa 1996), and Charlotte Rose (born on September 8, 2005).

People (magazine) named McDermott one of the 50 most beautiful people in 1998

He is often confused for actor Dermot Mulroney.
