Raveena Tandon

Raveena Tandon (born 26 October 1970 at Mumbai, Maharashtra, India) is an Indian actor, daughter of director Ravi Tandon.

Film Career

Her first film Patthar Ka Phool (1991) was a flop. Her career was saved by the hit comedy Andaz Apna Apna. She made headlines with her fight with Karisma Kapoor, the other leading lady in the film. Her next film Mohra made her a superstar overnight. The hit song "Tu Cheez Bari Hai....", had signified that Raveena was here to stay. Her on screen chemistry with Akshay Kumar was to turn into a off screen romance. Her rival Karisma Kapoor got her chucked out of many top films and she suffered a huge setback. Her films flopped at the box office, but her career was back on track with her hit film Ziddi, (1997).

Critical Acclaim

She then began to do films which ganered critical acclaim rather than box office success. Films like Shool (1999), Bulandi (2000) and Aks (2000) won her huge acclaim. However her best performance was in the film Daman (2001), where she played a wife of a abusive husband. Her years in the industry payed off when she won the Silver Lotus Award for Best Actress for Daman at the National Film Awards in India.

Personal life

She is married to Anil Thadani and gave birth to a baby girl on March 16th 2005.
