From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia

Rich Johnston is the leading comic book industry columnist on the internet. His rumour and gossip column Lying In The Guttersis read by the entire industry and has proved a reliable indicator of the mood, the flavour and behind-the-curtain scenes in Anglophonic comic books.

He has regularly exposed original artwork before it was censored by nervous executives, brought light to shoddy dealings towards creators, as well as warned of impending publisher bankruptcies. He runs spoilers, informed commentary and relies on a network of inside informants he's build over the last decade, to spill the beans on the comic industry.

He was also the first to post the recent rumour about Bryan Singer's metatextual casting in the new Superman movie, using closeted gay actors, to draw comment about the dual identity of the Clark Kent character, keeping his Superman identity in his closet.

Recently his concerns about the V For Vendetta movie were publically addressed by the Wachowski Brothers and cast, his comments about the new Doctor Who TV show picked up by international newspapers and websites and his interview with Alan Moore about his decision to sever all ties with DC comics, by Entertainment Weekly. His work is also often featured in Ain't It Cool News articles.
