Bob Gale (May 25, 1951, University City, Missouri), born Michael Robert Gale, is an Academy Award nominated American screenwriter who, amongst other things, co-wrote Back to the Future with writing partner Robert Zemeckis and also wrote the two sequels for the film. Gale co-produced all three films. Gale received a B.A. in Cinema from the University of Southern California in 1973. It was while attending USC Cinema classes that Gale and Zemeckis met. Zemeckis and Gale have written many films together, including 1941, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, Used Cars and Trespass. In 2002 Gale moved into directing when he directed his first feature length film, Interstate 60.

He has also written for comics, including Marvel Comics Daredevil title and DC Comics' Batman.
