From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia James Reyne is an Australian singer/songwriter who was born in Nigeria. Moving to the Australian state of Victoria with his Australian mother and English father he went on to study drama at the Victorian College of Arts.
In 1978 he would form Australian Crawl with Simon Binks. The band would go on to sell more than 1 million albums in Australia in the 1980's. And provide some of the most memorable songs that still resonate within the Australian culture and on Australian radio today.
After the band split up in 1986 James went onto a very succesful solo career.
In 1987 James released his self titled debut solo album, which featured the hit "Motors Too Fast".
His debut was followed, in 1989, by his next solo release "Hard Reyne". And in 1991 "Electric Digger Dandy" was released. All three of these releases went platinum multiple times and contained several top 10 hits.
1994 saw the release of James' fourth album. "The Whiff Of Bedlam" Recorded in L.A. with Stewart Levine.
There was a few years break between studio albums for James until 1999 when he released "Design For Living". In 2004 he released "Speedboats For Breakfast".
Most recently James has released the album "...And The Horse You Rode In On" (2005). A CD where James reworked some of his and Australian Crawls most well known and loved songs acoustically.
James has remained a constant in the Australian music scene. Mixing music with acting, he appeared in the TV drama 'Return To Eden' as well as several other productions.
Along the way he has performed and recorded with artists such as James Blundell. They recorded a version of the 'Dingo' song "Way Out West". Later he joined Daryl Braithwaite, Jeff Scott and Simon Hussey to create the album "The Company Of Strangers". An album that spawned four top 10 singles.
